On Thursday 11th October, BITSA collaborated with Google to host the “UNSW BITSA x Google Presents: Security and Privacy” event. Google is a multinational technology company that focuses on search engine technology, online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and consumer electronics.

Our attendees were first presented with a highly comprehensive presentation exploring the differences between privacy and security, delving deeper into the backgrounds of career opportunities within both sides of Google’s privacy and security team. This was then followed by an interactive Q and A session, where students were able to raise questions to panellists regarding their personal experiences and career journeys. As the event reached its end, students were invited to an engaging networking session where students were able to ask more personalized questions to gain better insight into their careers.

We would like to thank our lovely representatives and organizers, Kathy Zhu, Devesh Mitra, Jenny Yang, Frances Lee, and Clifford Sesel, for their time and for providing such valuable insights. We would also like to thank all attendees for their engagement in the event and we hope that you have been able to gain valuable insights. We hope to see you at future BITSA events!
